Position: Web Application Developer

Knexus Research Corporation, an information technology research startup located in Springfield, VA, is looking for a web application developer to support one of our US Government clients located in Washington, DC. The Web Application Developer we seek will be the chief contact responsible for delivery of robust, easy to use, and attractive web applications. You must have strong development as well as communication skills combined with the ability to work effectively in a multi-project team. This position will provide you with the opportunity to make and implement many of the design choices on a project whose success depends on your ability to follow through. Experience working on open source projects, particularly using LAMP technologies, is of strong interest to us, even if outside of a work environment. Duties and Responsibilities
* Interact with project sponsors to elicit and document application requirements
* Develop, document, and communicate design alternatives to sponsors and co-developers
* Code, document, test, and validate developed applications
* Liaison with system administration to test and deploy applications in Unix environments
* Write design documents, deployment instructions, and end user manuals

Skills
* Experience designing and implementing web user interfaces
* Interest in laying out intuitive graphical interfaces
* Proficiency with server-side scripting (PHP, Perl)
* Proficiency with client-side technologies such as JavaScript and CSS
* Experience working with relational databases (SQL); experience with Oracle a plus
* Familiarity with standard data representations such as XML
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing
* Familiarity with the Open Source community and Open Source tools
* Familiarity with Unix and the ability to be productive in a Unix environment
* Strong interpersonal and communications skills; ability to work independently as well as in teams

Experience
4+ years experience software development

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Work location: The candidate will work onsite at the client location in South DC
Citizenship: US Citizenship required, no clearance necessary, must be eligible
